The strongest trade seen so far this season with an exceptional market average of £86.33 for 3568 sold. All specification of lambs today were eagerly bid for with short keep store lambs regularly selling in excess of the £100 mark, medium keep lambs sold around the £90 mark and long term lambs in the £70’s.
The market toppers today at £121 were short keep Mule lambs from KD Harryman, Keswick. Other pens of Mules sold to £113 from RI Dixon, Low Newton, followed by other pens of Mules to £109 from R&E Ladds, Kendal. Many more pens of strong Mules lambs sold in excess of the £100 mark, with all Mules forward averaged £94. Good quality short keep Texel lambs regularly sold in the £100 and teens, Peaking at £120.50 for Texel lambs from AJ&SE Burrow, Milnthorpe with others from the same home selling to £118. Other noted prices for Texel lambs were £119 from R&E Ladds, Kendal, £117 from DR&C Galbraith, Grayrigg, £115 from both JG&BJ Escolme, Killington and JD Dixon, Grange over Sands. Beltex lambs peaked at £115 from MB Flatman & Son, Over Wyresdale. All Texel lambs forward averaged £94.81. Suffolk lambs peaked at £112 from JG&BJ Escolme, Killington. Horned lambs peaked at £86 from NJ Strickland & Son, Whinfell. Swaledale lambs peaked at £80 from MW Bousfield, Bampton, with all Swaledales forward averaged £61. Rough Fells achieved £80 from A Prickett, Farlton.
