J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: J36 Store Lambs Sale - Thursday 22nd October

Trade remains buoyant at NWA J36 today with a quality entry of 4616 store lambs. Topping the market was Low Moor Howe with Texel lambs selling to £100 with other noted prices for Beltex lambs from A Prickett selling to £91 twice and a pen full of Beltex x lambs from WI Barrow & Son, Broughton in Furness selling to £88. Suffolk lambs sold to £81.50 from JR Robinson & Son, Nook with others selling to £80 from R & BJ Cleasby, Broughton in Furness.

There were plenty of pens of short term keep lambs selling into the mid to late 70s, with medium term Continental lambs continuing to sell well into the 70s.

Upland lambs saw Cheviots sell to £83.50 from W Stamper, Chipping with others from the same home selling to £78.50. Mule lambs were a sharper trade on the fortnight with a top of £78 from RI Dixon, Low Newton with others to £75 from RM & D Dixon, Longsleddale. There were plenty of strong Mule lambs selling to the mid 60s. A pen of 40 Masham lambs from W & J Penny, Kirkby in Furness sold to £79.50. Horned lambs continue to sell to a very good trade with Rough Fells topping this section at £69 from TLB & J Knowles, with plenty of pens of Rough Fell lambs selling into the £60 mark.

Swaledale lambs were a sharper trade on the fortnight with a top of £51.50 from Messrs Hodgson, High Borrans with others selling to £50.50 from RA Walton, Torver. Herdwick lambs were keenly bid for with a top of £63.50 from S Procter, Selside with other Herdwick lambs to £57 from TE Booth, Kentmere.
