North West Auctions held the dispersal sale of the milking portion of the dairy herd on behalf of RL & JP Crowe which saw buyers in attendance from the Northern Counties and Midlands keen to secure additional stock.
All cattle sold to a fast trade with many buyers leaving empty handed. The sale topped at £1920 for a fresh 2nd calved cow selling to local farmer, D Moorhouse, Natland with a fresh 3rd calved cow going to the same home at £1700. Heifers sold to £1600 for a fresh calved with others £1580, £1550 and £1500.
Older cows were keenly bid for, selling to £1400 for 4th calvers, £1280 5th calvers and £1020 for 6th calvers. In-calf cows sold to £1350 and others £1220, in-calf heifers due November, sold to £1150.
The consignment of pedigree yearling heifers from JM Barton & Son sold to £850 x 2, £820 x 2 with others £750 - £800.
Crossbred heifer stirks from T & J Pritt sold to £250 for Jersey x with heifer calves to £160 for Friesian x.
