There was a smaller entry of Store Hoggs this week with 902 forward which saw strong and short term hoggs in demand. The trade topped at £92 for Texels from Messrs Wilson, Grange-over-Sands closely followed by £87 for Texels from B Clark, Grange-over-Sands, with numerous pens of Texel lambs easily selling in the eighties. Beltexs sold to a top of £85 from AR & BJ Thompson, Selside with plenty of Beltex lambs selling in the early eighties. Suffolks topped at £80.50 from Messrs Wilson, Grange-Over-Sands. Mules sold to a top of £75 from A Bond, Sedbergh with plenty of pens selling in the early seventies. Medium term hoggs were easily sold with more buyers ringside this week and more could have been sold to the advantage of the vendor. Horned lambs sold to a top of £53 for Lonks from M Huddleston of Wray.
The next sale of Store Hoggs will be Thursday 14th February to include February In-Lamb Breeding Sheep. Please note there will be no sale of Store Hoggs on Thursday 28th February, the last sale of the season will be Thursday 14th March. Vendors are strongly advised to inform the office of entries.
