North West Auctions J36 held its fortnightly sale of store lambs with a reduced entry forward this week of 2623, with plenty of interest for all types of lambs. A sharp trade throughout the sale with vendors leaving well satisfied. There was an overall market average of £64.07. Best quality Beltex lambs and short term meated Continental lambs sold into the eighties. The trade peaked at £89 from G, GU & D Swarbrick, Grange Over Sands with Texel lambs, closely followed by £87 from WR Clarke and Partners, Yealand Manor and £85.50 from AR Gornall, Crosthwaite with plenty more pens selling in the eighties. Beltex lambs peaked at £85.50 from L Beck, Endmoor and £81 from RI Barrow, Dunnerdale. Suffolk lambs sold to a top of £79 from Messrs Wilson, Allithwaite. Mule lambs sold to a top of £80.50 from Strickland Hill Farming, Witherslack closely followed by £78 from I & P Brown, Ravenstonedale with plenty of pens of strong Mule lambs selling into the seventies. Cheviot lambs sold to a top of £71 from RM & D Dixon, Longsleddale with other Cheviot lambs selling to £70 from JR Handley, Whinfell and DP Escolme, Endmoor. Horned lambs sold to a top of £65 for Dalesbreds from JM Jackson, Carnforth with Rough Fells selling to £63 from I & J Mallinson, Selside.
