CALVES

70 Calves and weaned stirks sold to £1240.
Rearing calves sold to a top of £870 for a British Blue bull from JM&MH France, Littledale with other rearing bull calves to £750 and £740 from CR&A Baxter, Morecambe. Also at £740 was a Hereford bull from JR Newsham, Condor Green with this run topping the black and whites at £530. Younger sorts sold to £650 for a British Blue from JP&C Robson, Brock with others at £600 from MH&SJ Morris, Wraysholme.
Heifer calves sold to £590 for British Blues from CR Baxter & Son, Morecambe with others at £560 from JP&C Robson, Brock. A nice run from Pickervance Farms, Kirkham sold to £480 while Herefords reached £440 from MH&SJ Morris, Wraysholme.
Weaned stirks flew to £1240 for a Charolais bullock from D&J Hay, Cockerham with heifers from this nice run sold to £1120 and £1100. TD&A Gardner, Great Eccleston sold bulls to £890, with freshly weaned Montbeliardes to £730 from this same good home.

STORE CATTLE

Store cattle quite simply out of this world today with 50% of the bullocks selling over £2300.

Bullocks topped at £2820 for not one but 5 British Blues from J Lamb, Old Glasson with other British Blues to £2720 from JM Cockett, Ingleton and £2650 for SH & LE Birkett, Nether Kellet. Aberdeen Angus bullocks to £2750 from JM Cockett, Ingleton and £2620 for J & JM Walmsley, Pilling. Simmental bullocks from M & C Booth, Kentmere sold to £2750 and £2680 while Limousins topped at £2700 for TJ Lloyd, Settle. Black and white bullocks good to sell, topping at £2100 from EE Thornton & Sons, Morecambe with a further 6 from this home at £1950.
Heifers sold to £2650 for Aberdeen Angus from LE & A Ridding, Kendal with others to £2450 in this run. SH & LE Birkett, Nether Kellett sold 3 British Blues to £2400 with other British Blues to £2320 from AT Burrow & Son, Gressingham. Limousin sold to £2220 from J Beck & Son, Tatham with any amount of strong heifers top side of £2000.

OTM CATTLE

OTM’s continuously exceed local competition at Lancaster, topping this week at 379.5p/kg three times for Aberdeen Angus otm heifers from TJ Robinson, Milnthorpe with black & white heifers to 344.5p/kg from Barker Farms, Carnforth. Cull cows sold to 319.5p/kg from Nathan Allen with Montbeliarde cows to 304.5p/kg from WR & CM Lawrenson, Winmarleigh. 7-year-old black and white cows sold to 239.5p/kg from J & G Thornley, Kirkham with harder worn cows 190-200p/kg.
Top grossing was £2307.29 for otm heifers from TJ Robinson, Milnthorpe with black and white heifers to £1990.49 from AT Burrow & Son, Gressingham. Cows topped at £2201.36 from Natham Allen with Montbeliardes to £1953.88 and £1941.84 from WR & CM Lawrenson, Winmarleigh. Black and white cows to £1848.94 from J & G Thornley, Kirkham.
