PRIME LAMBS
Lancasters weekly prime sale saw 680 go through the ring, with 200 of them being hill or Mule bred, reflecting in the average of 254p/kg. Good meat is always best to sell with regulator Lancaster venders JM&MH France & Son, Littledale selling a heavy Texel to topping the market at £157. Other heavy weight Texels sold to £151 from W&A Cornall, Barnacre. P Lawrenson, Brindle had his usual terrific run of lambs to top of £144. TM Townley, Over Wyresdale filled the ring with heavy Suffolks to £144, with other from the same home at £134. Medium wight lambs saw Beltex cross to £132 from S Rossall, Over Wyresdale with others at £130 or 302p/kg from KA Purtill, Wigan. Others achieved 291p/kg from AG Butler, Hambleton. Horned lambs saw a ring full of Dalesbred from R Capstick & Son, Ingleton at £103, with lambs to £92 from S Bosworth, Burnley. Mule lambs sold to £116 from T&CM Kelsall & Sons, Chipping.
CAST SHEEP
100 cast sheep were presented to the buyers this morning, which saw ewes to £154 from Ripley St Thomas, Lancaster with other Texels at £136 from S Dickinson, Ellel. Suffolks ewes sold to £108 from B&J Preston, Caton. Good meated Mules sold to £96 from GS Lander, Cheshire. Swaledale ewes sold to £76 from RH&C Ayrton, Abbeystead.
Cast tups sold to £140 twice from B&SE Carter, Ellel. Swaledale tups sold to £80 from W&A Cornall, Barnacre.
STORE LAMBS
A smaller show of store lambs were forward, as many Lancaster vendors have come to the end of their lambs. A&L Huddleston, Wray consignment of lambs sold to £92 for smart Texels with Mules to £88 from the same good home. D&J Hay, Cockerham consignment of lambs saw Texels to £81 and £79.
