Prime Hoggs
A slightly smaller entry of prime hoggs forward today which sold to an overall market average of 260p/kg.
Leading the way at £153 was a heavy weight Charollais hoggs from T & CM Kelsall, Chipping whom
sold Texel hoggs to £145. A cracking run of heavy weight Charollais hoggs from V & EJ Chadwick &
Son, Sowerby sold to £152, £149 and £147 with the consignment averaging £140.75. The weekly
consignment from AG Butler, Out Rawcliffe saw Texel and Continental cross hoggs topped at £145 with
others to £138 and £136. Texels from PM & ST Entwistle, Abbeystead peaked at £144. Beltex lambs
sold to 300p/kg from AG Butler, Out Rawcliffe with plenty more in this region selling to our butchers
buyers.
Mule lambs met plenty of demand selling to £124.50 from RH & C Ayrton, Abbeystead followed by
£123 from FK & F woodhouse, Scorton. Horned lambs sold to £107 for Lonks from S Bosworth,
Burnley with Swaledales to £105 from RH & C Ayrton, Abbeystead.

Cast Sheep
Lancaster continues have a strong cast sheep trade with all sheep forward averaging in excess of the
£100 mark. Texel ewes sold to £148 from TM Townley, Over Wyresdale with plenty more selling in
excess of £120. Mule ewes sold to £116 from TB Carter, Preesall followed by others to £112. Upland
ewes saw Cheviots sell £110 from S Bosworth, Burnley with lonk ewes selling to £91. Cast tups
peaked at £123 for a Leicester from S Bosworth, Burnley
