Calves & Weanlings
There was a few less calves on the market today due the bank holiday weekend, although this did not affect the trade for quality calves at Lancaster with good quality British Blue bulls especially a strong trade. The consignment from Drinkall Bros, Over Wyresdale led the way selling British Blue bulls to £450, £440 and £400 with heifers from the same home selling to £420. The sale today included the young handlers cattle over wintering competition, which was kindly sponsored by Countrystyle Meats, Lancaster Leisure Park. Taking top honours of best handled and presented animal was Thomas Anderton, Scorton which is also awarded first prize in the heifer class. This much admired British Blue heifer at 11 months old sold for £820.
