Dairy heifers sell to £2180 at NWA Lancaster

The monthly sale of Dairy Cattle at NWA Lancaster saw a catalogued entry of quality cows and heifers attract buyers keen to secure replacement stock from this popular sale.

Heifers sold to a top price of £2180 for ‘Goadsbarrow Swallow 106’, from A.V Lord & Co, Aldingham with MJ & H Atkinson, Quernmore close behind, selling ‘Wyredale Flame Gertrude 55’ at £2120.
A pair of heifers from the ‘Pennine’ herd of Drinkall Bros, Over Wyredale were next in line at £2100 and £2020. ‘Bilsrow Rambo Fantee’ from Tomlinson Bilsrow Ltd, Bilsborrow and ‘Sweetings PB Jewel’ from Lawsons Farm Ltd, Cockerham also selling at £2020. Heifers generally £1800-£1950, a total clearance sold to an average of £1916.

New Calved cows sold to £1980 for ‘Sweetings Altaspring Yoyo 2’ fresh into her 2nd lactation from Lawsons Farm Ltd, Cockerham who also sold another 2nd Calved cow at £1800.
A pair of 3rd calved cows from A.V Lord & Co, Aldringham sold to £1600 for ‘Goadsbarrow Swallow 98’ and £1400 for ‘Goadsbarrow Milkyway 2’. All cows averaged £1695.
