Prime Lambs

Lancaster’s weekly sale of prime lambs had 655 forward. The overall market average was 207p/kg with a SQQ average of 210p/kg. Light weight and handy weight export lambs trade just as dear as the previous week. Heavy weight lambs between five and ten pence a kilo less than the previous week. The market topped at £119 or 270p/kg from L & A Duckett, Higher Bartle with others from the same home selling £108, £106 and £105.50 twice. The consignment of Texel lambs from Andrew Butler, Hambleton topped at £107 meanwhile TR Prickett, Hutton Roof draw of lambs topped at £105. Texel and Charolais lambs from P Lawrenson and Son, Chorley sold to £104, £102 and £100. Heavy Suffolk lambs peaked at £110.50 from TM Townley, Over Wyresdale.
Upland lambs saw 46kg Cheviots sell to £97 weighing 46kg from J Bargh and Son, Heaton with Oxcliffe. Mule lambs topped at £89.50 from DC Miller, Claughton on Brock with Swaledale lambs selling to £82 from KM & KJ Curwen, Abbeystead.

Cast Sheep

The cast sheep trade continues to improve with sheep the sharpest they have been in recent times. A consignment of Texel and Continental ewes from T & L Kirkham, Eccleston selling to £120 and £110. Plenty of Continental ewes sold around the one-hundred-pound mark. Mule ewes peaked at £98 from James Burr, Quernmore with other mule ewes selling to £96 and £94 from T & L Kirkham, Eccleston. All mule ewes forward selling to average £83.31. Upland ewes saw Cheviots sell to £75 from G Blacklidge, Chorley with Scotch Blackface ewes selling to £62 from JR Mashiter, Overton.
