Prime Hoggs
The was a larger entry of Prime Hoggs with 255 forward selling to an average of 182p/kg with a large proportion being hill bred hoggs this week. Texels sold to a top of £91 from RW & FJ Rhodes, Quernmore with Cheviots selling to £88 and £87 from J & H Davis. Suffolks sold to a top of £87 and £86 from AG Butler, Hambleton. Plenty of pens of hoggs sold in the eighties, with Mules selling to a top of £80 from AG Butler. Horned hoggs topped at £79.50 from WM Pye, Lancaster with Scottish Blackfaces. Plenty of handy weight 40kg hoggs often sold around the 190p/kg mark.
Cast Sheep
A few more cast ewes on offer this week saw Texel ewes top at £70 from S Wilson & Son, Scotforth with Teeswater tups selling to the same price from DM Eames, Abbeystead. Mules sold to £59 from M & L Preece, Kirkby Lonsdale.
Monday 11th March at Lancaster sees our new sale structure commence for the Prime Sheep sales. The new start time will be at 11am with Prime Hoggs followed by Cast Sheep and then Sheep with Lambs at Foot at 12noon.
To celebrate this there will be a prize draw, anyone who sells Prime Hoggs next Monday will be entered in to the draw with two lucky vendors WINNING £50 cash prize each with the winners announced at the end of the sale!
