Spring Lambs

There was a smaller entry of spring lambs forward this week due to the bank holiday weekend. Suffolk lambs topped the trade at £124 from DJ Casson and Son of Slyne. There was numerous pens of well finished good confirmation lambs selling around 250p/kg.

Winner of this week’s £5 for the highest priced pen of 4 or less spring lambs went to DJ Casson and Son of Slyne selling to a top of £124. The winner of the £10 for the highest priced pen of 5 or more went to DJ Casson and Son of Slyne selling to a top of £113.

Prime Hoggs

The smallest entry of hoggs of the season which is coming to an end now. The trade topped at £105 for Charolais hoggs from RS & IM Kellet of Cockerham.

Cast Sheep

The ewe trade remains strong with all ewes in strong demand and eagerly bid for. Topping at £105 was CB Farming of Hindley with Texel ewes closely followed by A & E Clarkson of Thurnham selling to £100 with plenty of ewes in the nineties. Mule ewes twice topped at £92 from S Wilson and Son of Scotforth and A & FM Bolland of Ellel with plenty of big mule ewes around the ninety pound mark. Horned ewes sold to a top of £84 from SM & CM Bewley of Dent
