The monthly sale of dairy cattle had an entry of 37 forward this month.
This month’s show was kindly judged by Thomas Ayrton of Thurnham, who we thank for his time and expertise. A strong line up of Heifers was put before the judge who awarded the Championship Rosette to Lot 14 ‘Stardale Cruise Vaakje’, yielding 40kg selling to £1980 from J Burrow & Son of Barton. The Reserve Champion rosette was awarded to Lot 13 ‘Stardale Baloo Stella’ selling for £1800, again from the Burrow’s Family.
The trade topped today for Lot 8 from DJ & S Tomlinson of Bilsborrow selling ‘Bilsrow Menthol Roxy 2’ for £2100. Two Heifers sold for £1900, again J Burrow & Son with Lot 15 ‘Stardale Alta1stClass Vaakje’ yielding 34kg with 9 VG/EX generations, and also from AB & J Parkinson & Son of Out Rawcliffe with Lot 38 ‘Liscabank Baloo Jen Molly’ yielding 40kg with 5 VG/EX generations.
The trade was slightly easier to than the previous month’s sale as was expected with the current drop in milk price and the shortage of fodder.
Pedigree In-Milk Heifers sold to an overall market average of £1650.
