A CRACKING ENTRY RECEIVED CONCLUDED IN A WONDERFULL TRADE AT THE AUGUST LANCASTER SALE
A super entry for the August show and sale at Lancaster, in conjunction with NWA, the quality once again was tremendous; all vendors must be congratulated on the quality which was consigned a real credit to all.
The quality of the animals resulted in a superb trade throughout and this sale certainly offers great animals for many different buyers, including the commercial milk producer or the pedigree breeder. The demand was awesome throughout the sale and resulted in a great trade from start to finish.
The judge for the day was William Oldfield, who did a great job and is a regular supporter of the sale and always enjoys buying great quality cattle.
William selected for his champion Stardale Grafeeti Vaakje 6th a Ladys-Manor RD Grafeeti ET Daughter this heifer beat off stiff competition in the non-halter led heifer class and then went on to be crowned overall champion, bred from this superb cow family, yielding 30.kg daily she was secured by the judge for the day William Oldfield of Clitheroe for £2,550.
The Reserve Champion was taken by R & E Butterfield of Bentham, this was the first prize cow and then went on to be the Reserve Champion on stiff competition, Kendalcragg Millwright Eve (VG88-3yr) calved on the 27th June and yielding 42.kg she sold for £2,000 to A Bargh of Skelton.
The 2nd prize cow of the day realised at £2,420 for Ravenscar Doorman Roxy bred from 9 generations of cows scored Very Good or Excellent, this super cow from Mr J Huddleston of Brookhouse, yielding 40kg daily was secured by JV Allan of Tutbury to join his Leaventhorpe herd.
Selling for £2,380 was a cracking heifer from Tomlinson Bilsrow Ltd, David and James consigned a wonderful group including Bilsrow Corinthian Sarene sired by Ballycairn Supersire Corinthian, this heifer calved on the 25th July and was 2nd prize in the non-halter led heifer class, she was purchased by JV Allan of Tutbury; Two other great heifers from the Bilsrow team realised at £2,000 both purchased by BF Blezard Ltd of Hothersall lane, Preston.
John Allan also took home with him a cracking heifer for £2,280 from J Burrow & Son; Stardale Mccutchen Vaakje 5th this heifer was 2nd prize in the halter led class and first prize in the pairs.
Plenty of other great heifers cruised over £1,900 today and many purchasers went home empty handed, more animals needed to meet current demand.
