Lancaster Livestock Auction: Primestock Monday 20th August

Spring Lambs

There was a smaller entry of sheep forward this week for the sale as many Lancaster vendors had been purchasing breeding sheep at the previous sales this week and also many on top of their lambs. The overall market average was 174p/kg. Topping the trade today was Ian Richardson of Goosnargh selling Beltex lambs to a top of £86 closely followed by T Noblet of Heversham selling to £85 with Cheviot Lambs. Texel lambs twice topped at £85 from MJ & K Ayrton of Thurnham. Lambs topped at 198p/kg and 195p/kg from Ian Richardson of Goosnargh.

Cast Sheep

There was less cast sheep on offer which sold to a strong trade. Texel ewes sold to a top of £92 from MJ & K Ayrton of Thurnham with others from the same home selling to £82. Mule ewes sold to a top of £76 and £75 from T & CM Kelsall of Chipping.
