Lancaster Livestock Auction: Primestock Monday 2nd October

Spring Lambs

There was a similar number of lambs in the market this week at Lancaster, selling to a very similar trade to the previous week. The trade topped for at £86 for smart Beltex lambs or two pound a kilo from David Cockett of Wilson Wood. Freddie Woodhouse of Fell End Farm sold smart Texel lambs to £84.50 with heavy weight Texel lambs from the same home selling to £83. Heavy weight Texels in the late forties from T & CM Kelsall and Sons of Brown Brook sold to £77, twice.

Cast Sheep

There was a similar number of cast ewes selling to a slightly sharper trade this week. Texel ewes sold to a top of £85 for Texel ewes from TR Prickett of Hutton Roof with Texels from DM Cardwell selling to £80. Mule ewes sold to a top of £68, twice, from T & CM Kelsall and Son of Brown Brook and from RI Wilson of Scotforth with strong fit Mule ewes selling into the sixties. Swaledale cast ewes sold to a top of £45 from T & CM Kelsall and Son of Brown Brook.
