Lancaster Livestock Auction: Primestock Monday 27th November

Spring Lambs

The weekly sale of prime lambs saw a smaller entry forward this morning, following the wet weather throughout the previous week.

There was a large quantity of upland and heavy lambs in the market today, with an overall market average of 165p/kg. Well fleshed Continental and Suffolk lambs were good to sell, and more could have been sold to the advantage of vendors, with buyers leaving short. Beltex lambs sold to a top of £86 from R & DL Cornthwaite of Humblescough Farm.

Another large entry of Mules in the market, selling to a top of £74 from Wes and Ann Cornall of Bank Farm with mule lambs early to mid-forty kilos in weight selling into the seventies.

Christmas Prime Lamb show is on Monday 4th December 2017

Cast Sheep

Strong mule ewes sold around the seventy pound mark topping at £71 from T Nelson and Partners of Cockerham Hall with all mules forward selling to an average of £68.25.
