Prime Lambs
There was a sharp trade, once again, for prime lambs in Lancaster this morning, with a more hill show of lambs forward seeing the average finish up at 165p/kg. Good quality Continental and Suffolk lambs continue to sell well and in demand, more could have been sold today to the advantage of the vendor.
Topping the trade today was George Sanderson of Blackleach Farm with a quality consignment of Texel lambs topping at £93.50 and £93 or to 204p/kg, the full consignment sold to an average of £92.50, with more of these good lambs required. A consignment of heavy weight lambs from J Bargh and Son of North Farm sold to £88 for 48kg Charollais lambs and 50kg Texels to £86 and Suffolks to £85. Good conformation Texel lambs were selling either side of 190p/kg. Upland lambs saw Masham lambs sell to a top of £79 from WI & A Atkinson and Son of Holme House who also sold 45kg Mules to £72.50.

Cast Sheep
A smaller entry of cast ewes forward today at Lancaster saw Texel tups sell to £70 from WM Pye of Tarnwater.
Prime Beef
A prime Hereford heifer forward today from P & A Bell of Village Farm sold to 189.5p/kg.
