Store Cattle
The weekly sale of Store Cattle at Lancaster had a catalogued entry 317, once again, seeing well-fleshed and short term cattle in demand and easily sold, with trade looking slightly brighter for longer term cattle as numbers start to tighten.
Topping the trade was Angus Bullocks from L Parsons & Son, Low Levens selling to a top of £1360, closely followed V & EJ Chadwick, Sowerby Lodge selling to £1300. Limousins topped at £1300 from PE & M Capstick, Whicham Hall.
Dairy Bullocks were a stronger trade this week selling to a top of £1200 for Montbeliardes from JH Woof & Son, Underhelm, with Black and Whites selling to £1110 from K & DE Woodhouse, Kitchen Ground Farm.
OTM Cattle
There was a usual busy ringside of buyers ensured that the cast cow trade was strong at Lancaster with all specification of cows selling sharper on the week.
Calves and Stirks
There was plenty of trade for all types of calves this week with the price topping at £345 for British Blue Bulls from JJ & M France, New House Farm and also from Wallbank Farms. Black and whites, of all sizes, were eagerly bid for and were in short supply.
