North West Texels breeders club annual show and sale of 104 pedigree in lamb ewes and gimmer hoggs was once again an outstanding success at Junction 36. The pre sale show was kindly sponsored by Carrs Billington’s. Thanks must go to our pre-sale judge Harry Griffies of the Cairngryffe flock. He awarded the champion to lot 65 Cowal CKC2214644(E2) consigned by KA&R Campbell, Lochgoilhead. The reserve champion was awarded to Ettrick GGH2214274(e2) consigned by G Gray, Selkirk
The club sale peaked at 1600gns with the champion from KA&R Campbell, this being sired by Sportsman Express, in-lamb to Millbank Freddie II and scanned with twins. The reserve champion sold to 1500gns from G Gray, sired by New View Electrifying, in lamb to Clarks Gray Goose and carrying twins. Plenty of interest was seen for the run of gimmers from the Sportsman flock with their best selling twice to 1400gns (BGS2206124 and BGS2206025). Finishing a good day for the Ettrick flock, an additional two of their gimmers sold to 1400gns (GGH2214302 and GGH2214236). Shearlings sold to an overall averaged of 750gns.
A sharp trade was seen for all Texel ewe hoggs, with the pick selling to 950gns for Majestic SLH2300442 consigned by L Smith & J Huddart, who sold others to 800gns for SLH2300443.
