The closing sale of store hoggs for the season had an entry of 653 forward, selling to a trade equally as strong as previous weeks. Once again short keep hoggs were in plenty of demand and regularly selling in excess of the £100 mark. The consignment of Beltex and Texel x hoggs from BJ Bowness, Kendal led the way selling to £119.50, £118.50, £117 twice, £115, £109.50 and £107.50. This was followed by Texels to £106 and £105 from SW Atkinson & Son, Crook. The consignment from M Allen, Yealand sold Texels to £106 and Cheviot Mules to the same price. Suffolk hoggs peaked at £104 from CS Long & RH Knipe, Grange Over Sands. Mule hoggs today peaked at £99 from M Woodhouse, Millom, £98 from M Allen, Yealand with others to £97 from RG&H Preece, Roeburndale West. Horned hoggs peaked at £91 for Jacobs from J Hardman, Windermere. Scottish Black Face Hoggs sold to £83 from G&ID Postlethwaite, Howgill with Herdwicks to £78 from Paddy Deady, Broughton in Furness and Swaledales selling to £74 from TJ&K Beaty, Trout Beck.
This sale concludes a successful store lamb and hogg season for North West Auctions J36, with once again records being broken for numbers sold, we look forward to see the growth in the coming years.
