The sale of in-lamb breeding sheep saw plenty of demand, with a busy ring side of buyers forward looking to purchase sheep. Aged Continental ewes carrying twins twice sold to £155 from GA Guy, Tebay whom sold aged Mule ewes carrying twins to £155. Aged Rough Fell Mules scanned in-lamb to the Texel tup carrying twins sold to £132, with aged Masham ewes to £132 and £130 from RJ&OB Simpson, Longsleddale. Texel hoggs scanned in-lamb sold to £125 and £122 from D&K Swarbrick, Out Rawcliffe. Mule running hoggs sold to £113 from RA Walton, Tover.
There was an entry of 1187 store hoggs forward which sold to a strong trade throughout the sale, with hoggs to suit all buyers’ requirements. Strong short keep hoggs regularly selling in excess of the £100 mark. The trade peaked today a at £124 for Texels from M&M Carr, Clawthorpe. Other Texel hoggs sold to £120 from WH Kitching & Son, Helsinton. Beltex hoggs sold to £120 from JB Jackson & Son, Grange Over Sands. Charollais peaked at £113 from JR Senior, Grange over Sands. Rough Fell Mules peaked at £112 from I&J Mallinson, Selside. Mule hoggs peaked at £104 from S Thompson, Grange Over Sands with others to £98.50 from KJ Knight, Kirby in Furness. Horned hoggs peaked at £97 for Rough Fells from L Potter, Penrith. Medium keep hoggs regularly sold in the £80’s and early £90’s. Swaledale hoggs peaked at £87 from R Morris-Eyton & Son, Whicham.
