Mitchells Auction Mart and North West Auctions conducted on Monday 22nd August 2022 the 21st Annual Whiteley Hey Production Sale of top quality Breeding Females and Shearling Rams on behalf of Mr Paul Slater within NWAuctions, J36.
The Whiteley Hey Stock came up trumps again with 127 active buyers returning to J36 to purchase what can only be said to be an awesome show of top draw sheep. Pauls endeavour of always purchasing outstanding stock rams to maintain his high standard throughout his flock allowed the sheep on show today to have super carcass, skin and power again.
The sale commenced with a bang with the opening sheep a 2 Shear Beltex x Texel ewe sired by a Stuart Wood Ram, the hammer fell at £800 to Mr Harry Wood, Popes Farm. Following closely was a single Black Beltex x Texel Shearling female selling for £650 which also went to the same home.
After the females were concluded an electric atmosphere was witnessed with Paul’s first pen of rams sired by Awesome and Crackerjack this pen averaged a whopping £1450. Momentum continued throughout the sale with both auctioneers enjoying selling the quality that was on show. Lot 118 a much admired ¾ Beltex x ¼ Texel ram caught the eye of many, sired by the Matt Burleigh Beltex with its dams going back to the Gangour Awesome. He sold to an fantastic price of 3800gns to Probert, Norting Town Farm. This was closely followed by lot 3 a pure Texel selling to 3,000gns sired by the renowned Gangour Awesome which went home with F Gargett, Barnard Castle. Powerful Pure Texel Rams saw eager bidding throughout the day with the next call of 2600gns for lot number 50.
66 Rams sold in excess of 1000gns.
Gimmer Lambs selling to £420 per head, to average of £186.
