Spring Rare Breed sale at NWA J36 attracted a large crowd of buyers travelling from throughout the Northern counties, North Wales and Scotland attracted by the wide variety of breeds of stock on offer at this popular sale. The sale peaked at £500 for a Jacob Shearling with a pair of Grade 4 Dutch spotted gimmer lambs from Winsbury Farm Partners, Leyburn who had a very successful day also selling a Dutch Spotted cross gimmer hogg with a grade 4 Dutch spotted ram lamb at £400. Teeswater ewes with twin lambs at foot sold to £390 from K Fozzard-Ridgway, Ulverston. A consignment of Valais Blacknose sheep from A&H Watson, Middleton sold to £200 for ewes with single lambs at foot. Jacob ewes with single lambs sold for £195 from JR Park, Rusland. Herdwick ewes with Herdwick lambs from P Murray, Frizington sold to £125 with twin lambs at foot. Shetland ewes with pure lambs attracted keen interest selling to £155 for ewes with twins, £105 for ewes with singles. Gimmer hoggs sold to £150 for Dutch spotted cross from Winsbury Farm Partners, Leyburn. With Jacob’s achieving £130 from J Fozzard, Goole. Derbyshire Gritstone sold to £125 from AC Hayton, Kentmere and Teeswater sold to £120 from K Fozzard- Ridgway, with Zwartbles also achieving £120 from B Jackson, Preston. Pygmy Goats sold to £75 from J Edmondson, Great Langdale and RC Lowery, Millom.
