Prime Pigs Sell to £132 and 128p/kg
The fortnightly sale of Prime pigs at NWA J36 experienced an improved trade with buyers out in force looking for pigs. The sale peaked at £132 for well finished, Large White x gilts from D Lord, Preesall, with other gilts selling to £125 for Pietrain x Saddlebacks from PK & R Woof, Stainton. Prime hogs sold to a top price of £112 again from PK & R Woof, Stainton with Large White x boars selling to £100 from D Lord, Preesall.
Top pen per kilo was 128p/kg for gilts from PK & R Woof, Stainton with all prime pigs selling to a market average of 110p/kg
A single cull sow from S Riddell, Ulverston sold at £42
Store pigs sold to a top price of £40 per head for a pen of 11 Duroc x Large White gilts from G Braithwaite, Appleby. Younger stores sold to £32 for Berkshire x gilts from J McEwan, Dumfries who sold others at £25.
The next sale of pigs is on Tuesday 9th March. Vendors are required to pre-enter the pigs by Monday 8th at 12 noon.
