North West Auctions J36 held it’s annual Beltex sale on behalf of the Northern Club this sale continues to grow with 58 entered this year breaking a new record. The centre record for a Beltex at this sale was smashed by a gimmer shearling from B Hall. This much-admired gimmer shearling, Ainstable Empathic HBA.E064 which was sired by Withy Trees Automatic Monkey was eagerly bid for selling to 2300gns purchased by AJ Wood & Son, Withy Trees. It was AJ Wood & Son of the Withy Tree flock that lead the way with the rams selling shearling ram, Withy Trees Enrico sired by Jewitt Blazing Heat ET selling to 1200gns purchased by Alasdair Prickett. Other shearling rams from this home sold to 1050gns for Withy Trees Everlast ET. Shearling rams sold to 1000gns from D Nesbitt, Wasdale with Woodhoe Einstein. Aged Rams sold to a top of 800gns from S Currie, Rathmel with Deanbrow Carlos. Gimmer lambs sold to a top of 500gns from JA Bailey, Bedale with Ivanhowe Francesca, this lamb was sired by Aviemore Bookem.
Aged rams sold to an overall market average of £790, shearling rams averaged £563 and gimmer shearlings average £626.
The boys are back in town sale saw a catalogue entry of 243. The trade saw good quality rams in plenty of demand and good to sell with second quality rams meeting varied demand. Leading the way at £820 was Charollais x Beltex rams from T Craddock & Son, Bolton by Bowland followed by Beltex x Texel rams at £700 from the same home.
Texel rams topped at £580 three times from AJ & LJ Haston, Maryport, Lucas & Nairey, Blackburn and Josh Capstick, Ingleton. Aged Texel rams sold to £550 AJ & LJ Haston. Plenty of good Texel shearling tups sold around the £500 mark. Suffolk shearlings sold to a top of £380 from Jodie Park, Lyth Valley.
Individual females sold to a top of £500 for Texel gimmer shearlings from Messrs Hewson, Carlisle with others from the same home selling to £480.
