There was another strong entry of 272 families forward today meeting a continued strong demand and trade at J36. Mule gimmer hoggs sold to a top of £210 from T Ayrton & Sons, Over Wyresdale. This was followed by Texel hoggs with Texel lambs selling to £200 from G & KM Atkinson, Colby who sold two pens of Mule hoggs with Texel lambs to £180 with plenty other hoggs well sold and eagerly bid for.
The full spectrum of ewes with lambs at foot were forward being selling to a sharper trade than a fortnight since. Leading the way this week at £245 was Texel ewes with twins at foot from DH Hogg, Appleby who sold others to £205. The consignment from GJ & CA Penellum, Millom saw Texel ewes with twin lambs sell to £230 and £200 with plenty of others selling in excess of £60 a life. Mule ewes with twin lambs sold to a top of £180 from Messrs Edmondson, Great Langdale. Broken mouth Cheviot ewes sold to a top of £175 from SE & J Gorst, Littledale. Swaledale ewes with twin Mule lambs from Messrs Edmondson sold to £138. Aged Herdwick ewes with twin Continental lambs sold to £128 from Kirkby & Longworth, Broughton in Furness with Herdwick ewes with single lambs sold to £88 from JR Park, Rusland.
