Calves

A smaller show of calves due to many vendors getting their grass while the sun is shining. A quality run of beef bred calves from R Morris Eyton & son Whicham peaked the calf trade this morning with a real British Blue bull at £400, with other Blue bulls to £360 from HJ Robinson & Son Preston Patrick. All Blue bulls forward at today’s sale averaged £322. British Blue heifers for future breeding purposes were particularly well sought after, peaking at £310 for a month old calf from BJ & M Tomlinson, Salwick. TW Handley, Sedbergh topped the Limousin bull section at £335. Native bred calves again were well sought after at J36, with a young show forward. Augus bulls sold to £300 twice from BJ & M Tomlinson Salwick, with others to £295 from J A H Walton & Son Rookby.

A few Fleckvieh calves were forward this morning, topping at £160 for a 19 day old calf from RG & JA Clark, Endmoor. A young show of black and white calves sold between £60 - £65, with stronger sorts £110-£120.

More calves are needed each fortnight to fill buyers demands. Please call Bradley on 07867000244 to market your calves.

A few stirks were forward today, with a very young show. 5 mouth old Augus bullocks from JD Hayhurst, Milnthorpe topped at £505 with Limousin bulls to £500 from MH & AR Robinson, Old Hutton, with Frisians from the same home to £280. A run of 2 month old black and white weaned calves from Messrs Dennison, Aldingham peaked at £205.
