Poultry Sale

Over 200 lots of poultry were sold at the July sale with a wide variety on offer.

The sale topped at £125 for a trio of Lavender Silkies with a pair of Buff Orpingtons achieving £90. 3 Caramel Silkie pullets sold at £80. Bluebell, Maran and Light Sussex pullets generally selling at £50 - £60 for pens of 3 with a quartet of Cream Legbars £50.

Waterfowl sold to £50 for a pair of White Call ducks, £48 for 2 Indian Runner ducks, and White Campbells £35 for 2 ducks.

Other poultry of interest included a hen with 6 Bronze Turkey poults selling for £50, a hen and 5 Appleyard ducklings £50, trio of Guinea Fowl £50, 3 Indian Runner ducklings £28, 2 Goslings £25, 6 Quail £25 and 2 Ring Necked Parrots £22.

Hatching eggs sold to £12 for 1 dozen Call Ducks, 1 doz Lavender Leghorns and also achieving this price was 2 Rhea eggs. Most eggs £5 - £8 per dozen.

The next sale of poultry will be held on Saturday 31st August which will be the same day as our sale of Rare and Minority Breed Livestock.
