Breeding Sheep
The February In-Lamb Breeding Sheep sale created plenty of interest with a buoyant trade. In-Lamb Mule shearlings twice sold to a top of £140, firstly from BJ Bowness, Kendal and secondly from P Whitton & Son, Burneside. Other Mule Shearlings from P Whitton & Son sold to £139 and £137, with all Mule shearlings forward averaging £132.84. In-lamb Continental shearlings, scanned with twins, sold to £132 from N Brown, Lancaster, with Mule ewes from the same home selling to £112. All In-lamb shearlings forward averaged £130.04. Gelt Mule Gimmer Hoggs sold to £80 from JA Chapman, Kendal.

Store Hoggs
The fortnightly sale of Store Hoggs had an entry of in excess of 1000 this week with a strong trade for the mixed entry of hoggs forward. Leading the way today was Texel hoggs from HM Hodgson, New Hutton selling to £85 with others selling to £83 from M & M Carr, Burton. Plenty of strong Continental sold around the £80 mark. Suffolks topped at £79.50 from OR Hodgson, New Hutton with other Suffolks sold to £77.50 from GM Redmayne, Ings. Plenty of middle term hoggs sold in excess of the £70 mark. Mules sold to a top of £75 from W & J Penny, Kirkby-in-Furness. Horned hoggs sold to a top of £72 from G & ID Postlethwaite, Howgill. Cheviots topped at £66.50 from JR Handley, Whinfell.
There is no sale of Store Hoggs on Thursday 28th February with the closing sale of the season on Thursday 14th March.
