Records tumble at J36 North West Texel Club Sale
A trio of new centre records were set at the North West Texel Club’s opening sale of the season at North West Auctions’ J36 sale centre on Sunday (11 August), with new top prices set for gimmers, tup lambs and ewe lambs.
NWA’s head of farmstock sales Paul Gentry said the sale had been a resounding success, with a huge crowd in attendance and buyers coming from across the country. “Demand for the quality stock on offer was exceptional and all vendors are to be congratulated for putting forward such good consignments.”
Heading up the prices and setting a new centre record of 5500gns in the process was a gimmer from Messr Bradley’s Far Hey flock, with this one being a daughter of the 70,000gnd Teiglum Younggun out of a dam by the noted Anglezarke Uno. She is a full Et brother to a tup lamb sold for 1800gns last year and was knocked down to Adam and Jessica Neachell, Staffordshire, as foundation stock for their new flock.
Next best in the females was a 2000gns call for the first prize ewe lamb from the pre-sale show from Richard Wilson, Eden Valley. This lamb, an Aldan Blockbuster daughter is another out of an Anglezarke Uno-sired dam and sold to another new breeder, Emma Carr, Deal, Kent.
Then at 1500gns was another from the same pen, an Auldhouseburn Bolt daughter out of a Knock Yankee-sired dam. She was the pick of Alistair Jackson, Cummertrees, Dumfrieshire.
And at 1400gns was a Stainton ewe lamb from Peter Woof, with this being another by Auldhouseburn Bolt and out of a dam by Uno. She saw Richard Wilson re-invest some of his earlier income.
A 1200gns call followed that in the females for a gimmer from Ryan Bradley, with this Teiglum Younggun daughter being out of a dam by Halbeath VIP and selling to J Porter, Long Marton, Appleby.
Just shy of that at 1100gns was a gimmer from Sam Barlow’s Littlewood flock. This was an Earnshaw Atom daughter out of a Tophill Solomon daughter and went home with R and E Ladds, Benson Hall, Kendal.
Topping the older ewes was one from the Forth House flock of I Jaeban, this was a Forth House Winston daughter and is out of a dam by Castlecairn Red Arrow. She was another bought by Adam and Jessica Neachell.

Setting a new centre ram lamb record at 2500gns was Peter Woof’s Stainton Cruiser, an Auldhouseburn Bolt son out of a dam by Knock Yankee and selling with an index of 156. He found a new home with Kevin Cochrane, Darwen.
After that at 2000gns was Richard Wilson’s best, Eden Valley Conrad. Another by Auldhouseburn Bolt, he is out of a dam by Feddal Road Yoohoo and sold with an index of 189. Buying this one was I M Jaeban, Cockermouth.
On the shearling rams the best call was 1300gns for Meinspride Buster from Angela Nairey. This Moorgate Yoda daughter is out of a dam by Meinspride Vangaurd and was taken by R Mason, Out Rawcliffe, Preston.
