Calves

A bumper entry of 101 calves today from far and wide with all selling to full value. As with all other stock sales buyers are now showing more caution when purchasing replacement stock, keeping a close eye on the feed stocks available.

In general, the calves would be younger today than at recent sales. Top price was £375 for a British Blue bull from JAH Walton & Son with younger calves £220 to £260. Native bulls in abundance with Aberdeen Angus’ to £285 from ME Wannop & Sons Ltd, and Herefords to £275 from V & EJ Chadwick & Sons, heifers sold to £290 again for British Blues from JA H Walton & Son with others generally £180 to £250.
Dairy bulls saw a run of Montbeliarde Bulls regularly achieve £125 to £150 from Colby Farms Ltd and Fleckviehs to £78. Holstein bulls were a nice trade with the strongest sorts £120 to £160 from RF & CE Hodgson, nice rearers were selling £65 - £80, mediums £45 - £60 with only the smallest less.

Keep these numbers coming.
