J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: Primestock Tuesday 17 July

Spring Lambs

What a difference a week makes. With numbers less, Monday and Tuesday morning sales saw the trade improvewith all buyers short of numbers and keen to purchase lambs. Those who took the risk and brought lambs forward this week reaped the benefit. There was an overall market average of 182p/kg with those weighing 39-45kg selling to an average of 185p/kg. It was good to have lambs selling in excess of the 200p/kg, selling to a top of 219p/kg from LE & A Ridding of Selside. Heavy weight lambs and well meated lambs continue to be good to sell.

Prime Hoggs

A small number of hoggs on offer today, often selling in the region of 100p/kg, with better sorts selling in excess of that price. Hoggs sold to a top of £100.

Cast Sheep

There was a larger entry of ewes on offer. The trade saw big fit ewes continue to be a good trade but the smaller and leaner types an easier trade.
