Store Lambs
The second store lamb sale of the season saw an entry in the region of 1200 forward. There were buyers from throughout the North, midland counties and wales. Short keep and middle keep Suffolk and Continentals were a strong trade and easy to sell with longer term lambs slightly harder to sell.
The trade was topped by P Stephenson of Settle selling Texel lambs to £72.50. This was closely followed by G Hargreaves of Scotforth selling to £69.50 and £66. Cheviot Mule lambs sold to a top of £67 from RI Dixon of Low Newton who also sold Mules to a top of £61.50. Beltex lambs sold to a top of £66 from AHS & HJ Raby of Preesall. Suffolk lambs twice sold to a top of £65 from TJ Beaty of Troutbeck and A Barnes of Milnthorpe. Strong short keep lambs were often easily selling in excess of £60. Medium keep Suffolk and Continental lambs sold mid to late fifties.
The next sale will be on Thursday 16th August 2018. Entries close Wednesday 8th March
