Store Cattle
The weekly sale of Store Cattle saw a better show forward selling to a sharper trade with buyers starting to look for summering cattle. Black and Whites were harder to place this week.
Topping the sale today was a pen of Limousin Bullocks selling to £1400 from J Prest & Son, Bay Horse. Native Cattle were, once again, good to sell at Lancaster with a pen of Aberdeen Angus Bullocks selling to £1270 from L Parsons & Sons, Levens.
Heifers sold to £1270 from J & R Waller, Killington selling a pair of British Blues.
Black and Whites sold to £1120 from TE & AG Galbraith, Crooklands who also sold others to £1090.
The next sale of Store cattle at Lancaster will take place on Friday 13th April 2018, Entries to the Office by 2pm Monday
OTM Cattle
A bumper entry of Cast Cows saw 131 go under the gavel with a good show forward selling to a sharp trade. An overall market average of 128p/kg was achieved.
The sale saw Cast Cows sell to 179.5p/kg for a British Blue from W & T Danson, Pilling.
Black and White Cows sold to a top of 159.5p/kg from S Kellet & Son, Pilling. Cast Heifers sold to 171.5p/kg for Black and Whites from R & V Walmsley, Cockerham.
There was a few Cast Bulls in the market today which saw Friesian Bulls sell to 169.5p/kg from Wallbank Farms, Over Wyresdale.
Calves and Stirks
The weekly sale of calves saw a larger entry forward selling to the sharpest trade seen for some time. All breeds were eagerly bid for with buyers now looking for calves.
The trade topped at £450 and £435 for British Blue Bulls from J & G Thornley, Kirkham closely followed by £310 from Drinkall Bros, Over Wyresdale. British Blue Heifers topped at £355 from Wallbank Farms, Over Wyresdale. Angus Bull calves sold to £325 from RT Halhead , Cockerham.
Weaned Black and White bull calves sold to £270 and £220 from Drinkall Bros, Over Wyresdale with Black and Whites on milk selling to £160 and £120 from Wallbank Farms, Over Wyresdale.All black and whites forward averaged £86.05.
