STORE CATTLE
Another Fantastic Friday at Lancaster with over 200 store cattle through the main ring with trade being sharper on the week, despite talks of another deadweight price reduction.
Just a hand full of bulls in today, topping at £2700 for a cracking pair of 20-month-old Limousin bulls from J & H Bland & Son, Levens.
Store steers today would see a top price of £2600 for a British Blue from Cowell & Moore, Woodplumpton with other British Blue steers from DE & SM Moorhouse, Kendal to £2450. Far more Limousin steers about today with H Chapman & Son, Carnforth at £2580 who also had Charolais steers at £2400. Aberdeen Angus steers as ever very popular with buyers at Lancaster topping at £2480 for a pair from KH & D Holden & Son, Pilling with J & JM Walmsley not too far behind at £2450. Dairy steers Montbeliarde to £2400 from AG Stafford, Out Rawcliffe while Friesians looked a strong trade at £2080 for a trio from Wannops Farm, Oxcliffe.
Store heifers saw Cowell & Moore continuing their good days trading with a single Charolais at £2400, other Charolais heifers at £2200 from EW & RM Towers, Hornby. Aberdeen Angus heifers from KH & D Holden & Son, Pilling at £2280 for a trio with others at £2100 from MG & J Parker, Wennington and T & E Garlick & Son, Freckleton. British Blues from regular consigners AT Burrow & Son, Gressingham at £2150 with J & J Huck, Kendal at £2000. Herefords heifers saw a top price of £2000 from both J & JM Walmsley, Pilling and M Huck, Kendal. With the same price being achieved for Limousin heifers from MG & J Parker, Wennington and A & FM Bolland & Sons, Ellel.

STIRKS
The monthly sale of stirks saw a few more numbers about than previous months with trade exceeding vendors expectations with many buyers going home with empty trailers.
D Fox & Co, Bay Horse seeing trade of the day with his consignment of stirks topping at £1600 for 12-month-old Aberdeen Angus steers, with other Aberdeen Angus steers at £1580 from G Hodgkinson, Great Eccleston who also had British Blues steers at £1480 at 12 month old. D Fox & Co, Bay Horse continued their good day with Hereford steers at £1500 and Hereford heifers at £1200 at just 12 month old. Dairy bred stirks saw a top of £1180 for a ringfull of Norwegian Red steers from C Hargreaves & Son, Overton with Fleckvieh from the same good home at £1080.

Calves see a lift on the week with buyers out in force
Bull calves to £870 on two occasions both for British Blues from JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme who sold Aberdeen Angus to £850 with other Aberdeen Angus to £840 from IT Richardson, Catforth and £800 x2 from CR & A Baxter, Morecambe. 30-day old bulls sold to £670 for Simmental x from GJ & G Billington, Garstang with Charolais to £630 from this home. Younger British Blues to £580 from Barber Farms, Brock. A good show of Black & Whites today, these selling to £650 x2 from IT Richardson, Catforth or £600 from Drinkall Bros, Over Wyresdale.
Heifer calves to £820 for a Charolais from JM & MH France & Son, Littledale with Aberdeen Angus from IT Richardson next at £790. British Blue to £680 from JP & C Robson, Brock with 30-day olds to £590 for Simmental x from GJ & G Billington, Garstang or £530 for British Blues from Barber Farms.
A few stirks followed selling to £1420 and £1400 for bullocks from D & J Hay with a Charolais heifer from EW& RM Towers, Hornby next at £1160. Bull sold to £1080 for a Blonde x from TD & A Gardner, Great Eccleston.
OTM CATTLE
OTM’s continue to look well sold with a pleasing trade for all.
Topping today at £3474.10 or 354.5ppk was a Limousin bull from PJ & ES Rogerson, Appleby with other bulls achieving £2412.22 or 314.5ppk for a Luing from RM & PM Simpson, Troutbeck. A British Blue steer from I Atkinson & Son, Carnforth sold to £2467.79 or 264.5ppk with the best of the cows today selling to £2321.13 or 299.5ppk for Aberdeen Angus from O Butler, Kirkham with Black & White cows to £2212.60 or 269.5ppk from AW & AM Park & Sons, Ellel.
Top ppk was 354.5ppk for the Limousin bull from PJ & ES Rogerson, Appleby with cows to 344.5ppk from JK & BJ Birkett & Son, Morecambe. Heifers to 334.5ppk from AT Burrow, High Snab with steers to 329.5ppk from JC Prickett, Bentham. Black & Whites cows to 294.5ppk from J & G Thornley, Kirkham.
