PRIME LAMBS
A slightly lighter show of lambs forward this week, which were met by a strong trade. Lambs saw a peak of £152 for Texels from J Singleton, Great Eccleston with Beltexs selling to £146 from E Lund & Son, Ingleton. Many pens of heavier lambs sold at £138 to £145 per head. Beltex lambs saw a top of 354p/kg from CP&V Cowgill, Bentham with plenty of the better bred lambs regularly selling at 315p/kg to 330p/kg. First cross Suffolk / Texels were regularly selling 295p/kg to 305p/kg. An overall market average of 288p/kg was achieved. Many more lambs are required each week, to fulfil the Monday morning orders of our ten active buyers.
PRIME HOGGS
Still plenty of demand for all hoggs, will Texels selling to a top of £137 from JE Parkinson & Son, Quernmore. Suffolks at £125 from DJ&MC Platts, Caton and Swaledales sold to £117 from A&L Huddleston, Wray.
CAST SHEEP
All ewes forward averaged another impressive market average of £102. Texels sold to £138 from DR&BE Rolfe, Scorton with a full pen of Beltex ewes from KA Purtill, Wigan selling to £137. Suffolks sold to £133 from DR&BE Rolfe. Mules topped at £114 from H Birkett & Son, Overton. The best Mules sold either side of £110 mark.
