Dairy sell to £2620 at NWA Lancaster

North West Auctions held its popular monthly dairy sale which, saw a high quality catalogued entry of cattle attracting buyers from throughout the northern counties and midlands.

The pre – sale show was judged this month by Mrs Janet Whitlow who found her champion in Wyredale Montoya Sylvia 104 from M J & H Atkinson, Over Wyresdale with the reserve championship awarded to the first prized cow Bilsrow Chamber Red from Tomlinson Bilsrow Ltd, Bilsborrow.

The sale peaked at £2620 for Pennine Poppy 1557 from Drinkall Bros, Abbeystead which was closely followed by M J & H Atkinson, Over Wyresdale selling the show champion Wyresdale Montoya Sylvia 104. Bilsrow Montoya Jane from Tomlinson Bilsrow Ltd, Bilsborrow archived £2520 with others from the same home achieving £2450. All heifers forward averaged £2122 to include an Ayrshire from A Barber, Claughton on Brock selling at £1700.

Cows sold to a top price of £2300 for Bilsrow Chamber Rea, closely followed by Wyredale Control Monica 220 selling at £2200. Older cows sold to £1620 for a forth calver from PA Fargher, Isle of Man.
