There was a slightly reduced entry for this month’s catalogued show and sale of Dairy Cattle at Lancaster Auction. A trio of heifers shared the top price of £2400 today and it was the winning pair of heifers from Messrs J Burrow & Son, Preston who were the first two top prices. The first heifer, which achieved the top price, was also Champion in the pre-sale show under judge Evie Gibbons. The heifer, from the famous Vaakje family at Stardale, was sired by Stantons Applicable and sold to Mr A Bargh, Skelton; joining this heifer and heading to the same new home was Stardale Aftershock Vaakje, sired by Morningview Aftershock. The third heifer at £2400 was from Messrs J Huddleston, Brookhouse who sold Ravenscar Fitz Faithful sired by Toc-Farm Fitz ET, the purchaser this time being Messrs Roper, Preston. Two heifers shared the £2150 price tag; the first from Messrs H Wright & Son, Kendal who sold Berryholme Solomon Rose. This lovely bred heifer was the pick of welsh buyer, Mr E Thomas, Carmarthen.
