Spring Lambs
There was a smaller entry of Spring Lambs forward this week selling to a very similar trade, with an overall market average of 170p/kg with a plainer show of lambs offer this week. Heavy weight lambs continue to be in demand topping at £101 for 51kg Charollai from FA Nowell & Partners, Bentham with 47kg Charollais from the same home selling to £92. A consignment from R Doran, Winmarleigh saw Texels sell to £93 with Charollais from the same home selling to £90. Plenty of pens of heavy weight pens selling into the eighties. Beltex lambs sold to a top of 200p/kg from IT Richardson, Catforth. Plenty of better conformation lambs sold around the 190p/kg mark.
Cast Sheep
There was a smaller entry of just over 200 sheep forward this week selling to a slightly easier trade. Topping the market today was A Fare, Newton with Beltex ewes selling to £93. Texel ewes sold to £87 from J Bargh & Son, Heaton with Oxcliffe with others to £85 from JK & BE Townely, Brookhouse. Suffolk ewes sold to £85 from G Riley, Bolton-le-Sands. Mule ewes topped at £75 from DJ Casson & Son, Slyne with plenty of other pens selling in the early seventies.
