Lancaster Livestock Auction: Dairy Cattle - Tuesday 18th September

80 ANIMALS SOLD IN THE SEPTEMBER LANCASTER SALE TO A STUNNING TRADE!

A fantastic day for the monthly Dairy sale at Lancaster, a great entry concluded in a day brimming with atmosphere as many new purchasers were in attendance as the added numbers were certainly a big attraction; the trade was superb from start to finish with buyers for every commodity on offer, every female that travelled through the ring found a new home!

The Show was well supported, with many showing their animals as the quality in the shed was awesome once again, the Judge Mr Sam Bailey of Stafford, had a tough job on his hands but he did a great job and for his Champion he selected Stardale Uno Vaakje from J Burrow & Son, of Preston, she was bred from this great Vaakje line, milking well yielding 30.kg daily she was first prize in the halter led heifer class and then crowned champion, she sold for £2,100 to A Bargh of Skelton. The Reserve Champion was taken by new consigners EH & R Eccles of Chorley, this second prize halter led heifer then secured the reserve champion ribbon, Denham Hill Prize Guy, April calved on the 10th August and was yielding a credible 34.kg daily she was secured by Bradley Farms Ltd of Preesall, Blackpool for £2,000.

Selling for £2,050 was a super milky cow from J M Barton & Son of Lupton, Carnforth, Lupton Hall Whiterock Beth (GP81) yielding 44.kg daily she was eagerly sought after, she was purchased by a Cheshire purchaser.

J M Burrow & Son consigned a lovely cow Stradale Bookem Vaakje, this second calved cow yielding 42.kg daily was 3rd prize cow and secured for £2,000 by A & F Bolland & Sons of Lancaster, sharing the same prize from the same vendor was Stardale Brawler Stella (VG85) giving 50kg daily she was secured by A Bargh of Skelton.

Many heifers cruised over the £1,900 bracket including Stardale Grafeeti Adeen 3rd, this 3rd prize heifer in the halter led heifer class sold for £1,980 to J E Walton & Sons of Preston.

The first prize heifer in the non halter class from H Wright & Son of Cumbria, Berryholme Seaver Elope bred from a great line up of cows calved on the 8th August and was yielding 42.kg she was purchased by W & MM Case of Ulverston.

Mr J Huddleston of Brookhouse, consigned a super heifer, Ravenscar Mogul Ambrosia, going back to the great EK-Oseeana Ambrosia (EX93-3E). She was yielding 31.kg and purchased by G J Mutton & Sons of Barrow In Furness.

A great selection of animals on offer today and all vendors must be congratulated once again for the quality consigned, certainly something for many different buyers from far and wide and great to see, the increased numbers attracted a superb crowd! This resulted in a buzz around the ring.

The Bull trade was certainly harder work on the day, judged by Mr Steven Garth, The Champion Bull on Production and Inspection was Kirkwood Enzo, form H & SD Cornthwaite of Kirkland, Garstang.

The bull trade was led by a super bull from J Burrow & Son, Stardale Superstella, bred from the great Stella family with longevity and fat and protein in abundance, she was purchased by a local purchaser for £1,820.

Other Bulls sold to £1,200 from Drinkall Bros of Over Wyresdale.

The younger bulls in the sale were harder to sell today and sold to £1000.
