Prime Pigs Sell to £158

The fortnightly sale of pigs saw 102 forward with over half the entry being weaners.

Prime pigs sold to £158 for Large White gilts from TS Wilson, Cockermouth, with others selling at £130 from AP Smith, Brookhouse. Other prime pigs generally sold at £95-£115 depending on weight and breed. Top p/kg was 132p/kg again for Large White x gilts from TS Wilson, Cockermouth.

Weaners sold to £41 for Gloucestershire Old Spots x from MK&LK Whitley & Son, Summerbridge with others achieving £36 from S Lawton, Carnforth.

Cull sows sold to £130 and 46p/kg from W Stamper, Chipping with a monstrous 460kg Duroc boar from G Brathwaite, Appleby selling £130.
