North West Auctions is proud to continue its loyal support with the Rough Fell Sheep Breeders Association. The judging was in the capable hands of Mr E Clark, who we would like to take this opportunity to thank for his time and expertise. There was a wonderful line up of sheep put before the judge, which we congratulate the vendors on the quality forward. After much time and deliberation, Mr Clark awarded the champion rosette to the first price ewe from S&A Bland. The reserve champion was awarded to the first prize gimmer shearling consigned by TLB&J Knowles. The rough diamonds once again shone bright, with the reserve champion gimmer shearling from TLB&J Knowles selling to the top price of 1000gns for lot 13, this much admired shearling was sired by Birkhaw Emerald and scanned with triplets to Cotegill Golden Balls. Other shearlings sold to 650gns from MP&A Capstick and 500gns from JA Law. Ewes sold to 400gns on a number of occasions, from S&A Bland, TM Potter and TLB&J Knowles,

SWALEDALES
The Diamond Delights show and sale of Swaledales Stars held on behalf of the Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association had a nice entry forward. The pre sale show judging was in the capable hands of Mr R Hutchinson, who awarded the champion rosette to the one crop ewe consigned by T Brogden. This ewe later went on to sell to £700, with this sheep being sired by Kisdon Odyssey B46341 and scanned with twins to Helbeck Unique C42113. The reserve champion was a three crop ewe consigned by TW Hutchinson and went on to sell for £500, with this ewe being sired by A30217 and scanned in with twins to A32046.
In lambs ewes sold to £700 from T Brogden and averaged £540.

BLUE FACED LEICESTER
North West Auctions Diamond Delights show and sale of Blue Faced Leicesters boasted a strong entry once again, with vendors traveling far and wide to attend this popular sale. The pre sale show was in the capable hand of Mr J Mills, we would like to thank for his time and expertise. A wonderful entry of gimmer hoggs were put before the judge with this class oozing quality. The champion rosette was awarded to Dawyck 4346/S105 consigned by MR Thornborrow & Sons with the reserve champion awarded to the Hewgill 980/S051 consigned by Messrs Lord.
Leading prices saw the gimmer shearling Carry House 281/R073 consigned by RD Archer & Son sell to 5000gns, carrying a single to Carry House Ronaldo. J Wight & Sons consignment saw their top shearling Midlock 1538/R102 sell to 3500gns, with this shearling scanned triplets to Underwood 1982/P001. Hoggs sold to 4000gns for Hewgill 980/S051 consigned by Messrs Lord, sired by Marriforth P1. Others hoggs achieved 3000gns for Cottage 3331/S026 consigned by J Bell.

DUTCH SPOTTED SOCIETY SALE OF PEDIGREE FEMALES
DUTCH SPOTTED IN-LAMB SELL TO 1350GNS
North West Auctions held its annual prize show and sale of in-lamb sheep on behalf of the Dutch Spotted Sheep Society which saw buyers in attendance from throughout the UK.
The pre-sale show was judged by Mr J Marshall who awarded the Championship rosette to Grayrigg Foot Emma Rose from Mr Jack Dixon, Grayrigg who was also awarded the Reserve rosette for Grayrigg Foot Emerald Star. These both later sold for 1000gns to CB Capstick, Grange over Sands. Other Grayrigg Foot ewes sold at 800gns to G Lister, Workington and J Fletcher, Carnforth.
The sale topped at 1350gns for the first prize gimmer shearling, Bank Hall Flame from JG Morton, Penrith who also sold Bank Hall Fearn at 900gns to D Barr, Sussex.

MULTI-BREED FEMALES
The much anticipated sale of individual in-lamb sheep saw a fantastic entry, attracting buyers from far and wide keen to secure additional and replacement stock.
This sale peaked at £550 for a Dorper ewe carrying triplets from AHB Murray, Canonbie followed by Texels carrying twins from J Sanderson, Halton achieving £520 and £480. Blue Texels from J Wood, Trawden sold at £390 who also sold Dutch Spotted at £390. Zwartbles sold to £380 from LA Simpson, Garstang.
Other prices of interest included Suffolk x ewes in-lamb to the Beltex from I McConnell, Dumfries sold at £340, who also sold Beltex ewes at £320. Millenium Blue shearlings from RJ & J Towers, Ingleton sold at £230.
Gimmer hoggs sold to £430 for a Blue Texel from J Wood, Trawden who also sold others at £360. Badger Faced Texels sold to £315 from AL Thompson, Colne.
COMMERCIAL IN-LAMB SHEEP
Commercial in-lamb sheep sold to £265 for Blue Texel x ewes from J Bargh & Son, Morecambe who sold Suffolk x at £210. Mules sold to £185 for 2 crop from AK Robinson, Clapham who sold others at £170 and older ewes at £160 from J Bargh & Son, Morecambe. Shearlings sold to £185 from N Brown, Lancaster.
