1200 lambs forward selling to a market average of 241p/kg with once again Junction 36 having a full ring side of buyers keen to purchase all types, heavy and well meated lambs continue to add up nicely. The sale peaked at £146 for Texels from AJ&SE Burrow, Beetham. With many continental bred heavy lambs regularly selling to 230p/kg plus. Medium weight continental bred lambs were regularly selling to 245 – 260p/kg. With 44kg Beltex lambs from WS Burrow, Silverdale selling to £126.50. Light lambs full of meat continue to achieve nice prices with Texels at 36kg selling to £102 from DH Ashworth, Holme. More hill lambs on offer today with Cheviots selling to £105 from WH Kitching & Sons, Hale.

CAST EWES

474 cull sheep forward today, with keen buyer interest in all classes and types with several grazing orders now ring side every week. Overall, a much plainer show of ewes today with many coming forward having worked hard rearing lambs this summer. Pure bred ewes sold to £159 for Texels from GA Metcalfe, Kirkby Stephen. With LJ&R Atkinson selling Blue De Maine at £152. The heavier end of continental ewes generally £120-£140 depending on breed and condition. Medium continental ewes generally £90-£115 with these attracting the keenest interest for grazing. Mule ewes sold to £130 from JG&PH Thompson & Sons, Selside, with nice meated heavier ewes £98-£110. Medium mules generally selling £78-£90. Hill ewes sold to £83 for Cheviots from JG&PH Thompson & Sons, Selside. With a large proportion of todays sale been light weight Swaledale ewes with the best selling to £57 from WA Hodgson, Whinfell with others at £50 from TA&JA Dixon, Selside. With Herdwicks selling to £46 from R Todd & J Bennett, Broughton in Furness. Cull rams sold to £142 for a Dorset from JC Morphet, Hale. With hill lambs selling to £88 for a Herdwick from P Fitzwilliam, Broughton In Furness.
