A successful day at Junction 36 with all specifications of hoggs in big demand and keenly bid for, the pre sale show had a cracking entry forward with quality on offer being as good as seen at anywhere in the North. Credit must go to our pre sale judges Gordan Udale and Gary Rylands for doing a tremendous job, we thank them for their time and experience. The championship rosette was awarded to the first prize pen of Mule hoggs with Suffolk lambs from Winter Brothers, Clickham this much admired pen of hoggs went on to sell to £310. The reserve champion rosette was awarded to the first prize pen of Texel hoggs with Beltex lambs from EJ Ward & Sons, Nether Kellet with this pen of hoggs oozing quality and going on to sell at £400. Mule hoggs with lambs met a strong trade from start to finish topping at £315 for Winter Brothers, Clickham with a much admired pen of 11 Mules hoggs with Texel lambs from Messrs Hayton, Colby selling to £290. The annual consignment from G Sowerby, Ormside always creates plenty of interest with their best selling to £280. Plenty of pens of Mule hoggs sold at £240-£260. All Mule hoggs forward average £224.
Continental hoggs met a flying trade with all forward averaging £251 and the best selling to £400 from EJ Ward & Son, Nether Kellet. First x home bred Texel hoggs from G&KM Atkinson, Colby sold to £290 with other Texel hoggs with Beltex lambs to £280 from JH&JE Taylor, Armstible. Many Continental bred hoggs with lambs sold at £260-£265.
