Prime Lambs
J36 had on offer 983 prime lambs, with an overall average of 234p/kg. Quality finished lambs weighing 45-52kg are still selling to a strong demand to average 237p. Top price per head of the sale was MW & M Hodgson, Swallomire with a pair of Texels scaling 61kg and realising £148, followed by WH Kitching & Sons, Hawes Farm, 56kg Texel’s selling to £146. Beltex lambs peaked at £133 for 50kg from WI Burrow & Sons, Jackson Ground, with a pair of 45kg consigned by DC D & JD Taylor, Garnett Folds at £107.5. Suffolk lambs reached £125 for a pen of 52kg from GA & M Robinson, 8 Silverdale Drive, with MW & M Hodgson, Swallowmire following at £119 for 50kg’s. Charollais lambs hit £118 for a pen of 48 kg from RR & JA Knowles, Myres Farm and to £110 for a pair of 46kg consigned by AR & BJ Thompson, Poppy Farm. In the Cheviot Mule section WP Brewer & Sons, Lower Core sold 46kg to £105, AR & BJ Thompson, Poppy Farm sold 42kg to £100. Mules from RS & BA Harker, Overthwaite Farm scaling 44kg sold to £100 and 43kg to £91.50 from J Longworth, Millriggs.

The weekly sale of cull sheep had an entry of 517. All types were keenly bid for to fulfil buyers requirements.
Cast ewes
Top price of the sale was £136 for Texels from R & E Ladds, Benson Hall, followed by AR & BJ Thompson, Poppy Farm at £125. Suffolks from J & H Bland, Ninezergh sold to £134, followed by £106 from WI Burrow & Sons, Jackson Ground. Leicester ewes sold to £129 from R & E Ladds, Benson Hall and £115 from RS & BA Harker, Overthwaite Farm. Mule ewes hit the high spot of £125 consigned by DV Carrick, Riverside House followed by £113 from AW Crowe, Ashtree Cottage. In the Hampshire section MD & SA Park, Whitbarrow Cottage sold to £104, £90, £87.

A Beltex ram from AR & BJ Thompson, Poppy Farm reached £158. Hampshires sold to £130 from MD & SA Park, Whitbarrow Cottage. In the Horned section Low Borrow Bridge Farm hit £87, with Swaldales consigned by RS & BA Harker, Overthwaite selling to £80.
