The sale of prime pigs saw 31 forward with 8 buyers in attendance looking to secure pigs for various outlets.

The top price of £118 was achieved for Saddleback x Pietrain gilts with others selling at £108. Heavy weight gilts sold at £110, £100 and £94. Prime boars sold to £70 and hogs to £68. Top p/kg was 110p/kg achieved for gilts with others to 107p/kg. All prime pigs generally 75p/kg – 90p/kg.

The stars of the sale were 3 Duroc x Pietrain gilts from George Hargreaves, Lancaster which after a mad flurry of bids sold for £162 for future breeding.

Weaner pigs saw an increased demand with Large White x gilts selling at £36 and £31.
