Prime Pigs
The sale of prime pigs at NWA J36 saw a quality entry forward selling to a top price of £132 for Landrace x gilts from AP Smith, with others £120 for Berkshire x from P Baxter. Several hogs forward sold to £125 from R & J Andrews and £115 from W Brown. Boars sold to £95 from AP Smith. Top price per kilo was AP Smith selling gilts to 138p/kg with others to 132p/kg and generally selling between 105p/kg and 120p/kg for gilts and hogs with boars between 80p/kg and 95p/kg.

Prime Lambs
The weekly sale of prime lambs had a smaller entry forward selling to a very similar trade with an overall market average of 160p/kg. Topping the trade at £94.50 was Texel lambs from E Dodgson, Kendal this was closely followed by Beltex lambs selling to £93 from JG & PH Thompson, Selside. Best conformation lambs saw Beltex sell to 219p/kg again from JG & PH Thompson, with Texels achieving 200p/kg from Abigail Winn, Burneside. Plenty of pens of better conformation lambs were selling around the 190p/kg mark.
Hill lambs saw Cheviots sell to a top of £76 from J Allonby & Son, Grayrigg with Mules selling to £72 from JS & S Atkinson, Scorton.
Cast Sheep
There was a larger entry of Cast ewes forward this week with just short of 700 forward selling to a similar trade as seen over previous weeks. Topping the trade today was Texel ewes from JG & PH Thompson, Selside with others selling to £88 from EM Standing, Witherslack. Cheviot Mule ewes sold to a top of £72 from TH & D Cornthwaite & Son, Cartmel Fell with Cheviot ewes topping at £68 from R Morris-Eyton & Son, Whicham. The Mule ewe trade was topped at £65 from JC Dunning, Orton with others to £64 from JG & PH Thompson, Selside. Horned ewes topped at £56 for Rough Fells from J Bargh & Son, Heaton with Oxcliffe.
