J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: Store Hoggs Thursday 15th February

A smaller entry of over 400 store hogs were forward today, selling to a sharpe trade throughout for all types and sizes, in keeping with the current rise in the prime hogg trade. Beltex hoggs sold to £86 from J Thacker of Levens and £80 from AR & BJ Thompson of Selside. Suffolks sold to a top of £80 from P & SA Edmondson of Stainton. The Mule trade topped at £80 from M PG Gibson of Crosthwaite closely followed by WJ & I France and Son of Chipping. There was plenty of pens of short term hoggs selling into the seventies. Horned lambs topped at £54 for Herdwicks from TW & J Beaty of Troutbeck with Rough Fells selling to £52.50 from J Black and Son of Kentmere.
